    The MMR shot is also not 100% effective in preventing measles.

    Even though I got all of my shots as a kid, at 22 they tested my blood and noticed I did not have the proper antibodies to protect me from measles.

    Thanks for the info. I knew that it was something like that; I think it's irresponsible not to ensure that vaxes are current prior to international travel.

    I was just sharing info from the story here.

    That's true. Did they give you an MMR booster? From what I've read, adults *should* be getting MMR boosters done at scheduled intervals. I had no idea that I should be getting boosters of vaxes I had done as a child. It's kinda scary to think about.

    My kids have all been vaccinated, thankfully. And we weren't around those areas on those days/times. But I feel bad for those who were.

    I did get a booster, but had I not have a baby I would have never known I was not immune to measles
