    W/D in San Diego?

So we have no idea where we're going to be soon, but San Diego is apparently one of the main three possibilities right now. I keep noticing when I'm looking at military housing that they don't have washers and dryers-- can you rent them or something? We'd only be there for two years and then we'd go overseas, so I really don't want to have to haul around a washer and dryer OR buy one and shell out that much money for two years, then try to sell it back. It just seems like a huge hassle. Anyways, what's the deal? Can I rent them? Do they have a used sales area on base for people in similar situations to ours? Thanks!

    San Diego?!

    Which base?

Also, I don't have an answer to your question, sorry. I've been in military housing like 4 times, ever.

A LOT OF the housing has hook-up for washers and dryers. I'm not 100% sure on all properties but I dont think any have them already there. There are a crap ton of military resale pages on FB and people are constantly selling used washers and dryers on there super cheap.

I do believe a few communities offer you to be able to rent them through the housing office, but i've heard there is a long waiting list.

It depends which housing you live in. Mine came with them.

San Diego has a Sears outlet where they sell appliances that have been scratch or dented. We got an amazing deal on a dishwasher there. You can also find appliances on Craigslist.

I know a girl who got an amazing deal from them on a dryer that she has had for a year and a half now.

Yeah, that's what my mom did for her washer and dryer, so that's what I'm going to do if we need to buy. It's just that we'd only be there for two years and then we'd be going overseas, so it seems like a waste, kwim? We're minimalists, so we really like to minimize what we buy. Though, of course, if we need to buy a W/D set we will.

I'm in housing in San Diego and ours came with a washer and dryer (The Village at Serra Mesa). I'm guessing if you move into a neighborhood that DOESN'T come with washer and dryer, you'd have a good chance of finding someone who is moving OUT of the neighborhood and wanting to sell their set. There are a lot of options for buying used or new here in San Diego anyway. But yes, some housing does come with washer/dryer!

I live in village NTC and we have both a washer and a dryer. I don't know where I heard/read this but I want to say anything e-6 and below comes with it.
