Grand Canyon to Fort Irwin - Things to see/do?

    Advertisements
What are some things to do/see between the Grand Canyon and Fort Irwin? We'll be at the G.C. for a day but we've budgeted three days for our drive home, even though it's only about 7hrs. Could spend two days at G.C. but I didn't know if there was anything worth viewing between the two places.

Yeah, along the 40. Greeeeeeeat. Of course there's nothing neat along there, why would there be?! Not like there's anything cool or interesting remotely near Irwin to begin with. I should check Dick's or Bass Pro Shop locations to see if there's anything along there so I can pick up some more archery supplies. I don't like having to buy that stuff online.

What are the Sierras like? I'll put my hiking boots in the trunk before I leave for my trip so they're in there when DH picks me up from LAS in case the weather is nice for hiking or something.

    What's in Bishop?

Bishop, CA? If so, whew... that's out of the way and more north of Irwin. About 9 hours from Grand Canyon and then 4.5 hours from Fort Irwin. I mean, we have the time, but I'm not a huge fan of driving long distances for a short visit somewhere.

You know, that sounds neat! And it is on the way back. I'll suggest it to DH and see what he thinks. Looks like there's several things around there, too.
