    San Francisco?

    Advertisements
So, I may be moving here within a year or so. Wondering what it's like? Housing? Anything? I have never been to CA or even west of Michigan before, and if I do move out there I will be completely on my own.

    Anyone in San Fran?

I didn't know that! How do you like living there??

There's a good chance I'm going to intern for a tech company out there, which will get my foot in the door for working at Google or Apple. I've been emailing with this guy but don't have any details yet. I could be going as soon as May or within a year from now. I also have no clue about pay so I'm worried about how high cost of living is!

SIL lives there... It's expensive as heck... She had a one room studio for 1500 a month.
Other than being super expensive its a pretty awesome city. LOTS to do. LOTS of walking up and down hills.

The cost of living is really, really high. There is definitely cheaper housing outside of the city - in suburbs and in silicon valley. Where is the company located?

If you're here in May I'll still be here! And if you need a place to stay if you have an interview I have an extra bedroom too
I'm planning to move to the LA area in Aug/Sept though.

There's only one other member that I know of who lives here, happenings.

Expensive. I lived in Northern CA my entire life. I'm not a fan of SF, but that could be because I grew up around there.

But, I know that most people love it, so I'm sure you will, too. Are you looking for an apartment? House? I suggest living outside of the city if you are looking for affordable.

I grew up there! Well actually a bit north of the city but I've got family all around. Cost of living is outrageous so you may want to look outside of the city. Check out Marin, it's right over the bridge and would be cheaper. The east bay may have some more affordable places too along with BART (public transportation) if you won't have a car. Also there are a ton of colleges downtown like USF, SFSU and UCSF....I'm sure you could call the schools and/or check out the websites for students trying to sub-lease apartments? You will absolutely love it out there! I miss home so much but I'm happy to be out im MI for another year.

If you have any questions feel free to ask

    I looove San Francisco!
I recommend living in Silicon Valley, too! My sister lives there. It's so close to the city and there's just as much culture. Just cheaper
