If you are going in an RV, there are 2 that I can think of that are pretty nice. One over in Pacific Beach (It's busy constantly, so a lot of people enjoy it) and the one on Coronado is so pretty if you are into windsurfing or any water activities.

We are going primitive camping for a night up at Palomar Mountain at Fry Creek Campground. I will let you know what we think of it when we get back. This was a last minute decision we are going up Monday morning. I will let you know when we get home if you are still looking for information.

Thanks for all the replys. We are looking for somewhere where we can set up a tent (and probably take our dog with us as well). Somewhere not too far- maybe an hour or two. I noticed that Juillan, CA had some places to camp- anyone been up there?

Also looking for somewhere where the campsites are kinda spread out and more isolated rather than right on top of each other (your tent is literally right next to someone else's).

Somewhere where we could go hiking (with a 3 and 5 year old) and possibily a dog too.

Thanks for any info you guys can give me.

Pixi- yes please let me know how that place is. I am looking for somewhere for the end of this month.

Jab79 ~ I will let you know I am headed up there in the morning. I talked to the rangers yesterday and he said that Fry creek is a little more isolated area within a forest area camping spots are not right on top of each other. There is also Observatory Campground near there too that is less tree covered and allows for star gazing. These are both first come first serve campsites at $15 a night.

I will let you know what we think of it up there. We are taking our dogs with us, but no kids in the family.
