    Youth Sports in San Diego

    Advertisements
DS is only 5, but he has done Tball, Soccer, Basketball, and Flag Football. We are PCSing to San Diego this summer and I'm hoping to get him right into a sport, preferably tackle football. Does anyone have any info on the youth sports in the area. We are hopefully going to be living in Murphy Canyon, so something near that would be nice.

I did see one league on the internet, but it said the registration fee was $290! That seemed like quite a bit for 5 year old football.

    TIA!!!

$290? Welcome to San Diego. The program I know of (Pop Warner) is $250 for Flag and $350 for Tackle--but Tackle doesn't start until age 7 at the youngest. I'm surprised there are any tackle football programs for 5 year olds.

Unfortunately sports are pretty expensive out here especially if you're looking for more competitive programs. I'm sure there are a lot of other ones besides Pop Warner, that's just the only one I know of.

We live in Murphy Canyon and my 4 year old will be doing spring soccer through Miramar. Its only $40 (including registration fee, if you sign up early, otherwise its $50 including registration fee). They also have teeball which starts in August, then fall soccer. I know that they also have basketball and flag football. Most places out in town want at least $100 for sports out here so going on base is probably your best bet but unfortuntely they dont have tackle football. Let me know if you have any other questions.
