We have 100% ID check of everybody in the car on our base and big Navy.
Like someone else said, you get used to it.

I think some of you may be confused about what the OP is talking about. She's talking about, now, EVERYONE in the vehicle, who possesses an ID, must present it to the gate guard. Before it was acceptable if just the driver flashed his/her military ID.

For example, when my husband and I went on base the other day. He was driving and had to show his military ID. I was sitting in the passenger seat and had to show my military ID as well. This is NOT common for Navy bases I've been to, unless the security level was raised...and I'm thinking it was recently.

Hate to say it but here @ Schofield they barely look at ID's. I always hand mine to them anyway.

That's one of the Army bases I've visited, where I had to show my ID as a passenger.

Every base I've ever been to has 100% ID checks for every passenger of age...and I think that's how it should be.

even when dh is riding with me and in uniform they check his id.

They only do a 100% ID check after 10pm here its from 10pm till 5am ish otherwise if you have current base decals they wave you on through. Those with out decals they swip there drivers license and make sure they are ok to drive on base etc.
