They were doing 100% ID checks on all occupants here in South Dakota up until very recently. I think they still do 100% checks pretty often.

Yeah, our gate on Ford Island is usually driver on ID check, but they have periodic 100% checks. What's crazy is I can call the base police and get a civilian access with just their license plate number and make and model of their car. They don't even ask for a name of they people in the car, our name, or address of where they are going!

Here in Korea the gate guards have to take our ID and scan them and scan the sticker on our cars. They compare the picture on the ID to what is in DBIDS.

the base here has always been 100% hands on id check since I have been here (4 1/2 years) I thought all bases were always like that.

I didn't realize that it wasn't 100% already The signs always say 100% on MCRD which is where I go most often. See how much I pay attention!

    Thanks for the info!

At MacDill, that's all I've ever know. You drive up and hand them your ID. I'd be wacked out if I drove on post/base somewhere and they didn't ask for my ID! (All our cars have the stickers but those fade in the sun after a few months)

they didnt already do a 100% id check? here even back when i was just visiting i had to have a valid id. although the vehicle check is random, it's not every car. but ya we've always had a 100% id check, hand it to the gate guard & all, & always have to have valid ids for passengers. but it's good to know they're starting it there!!!

That explains the news this morning saying that the traffic onto all of the bases was really backed up "for some reason". That must be the reason. Thanks for the warning; the ID/sticker part doesn't bother me but it reminds me to make sure my insurance cards are current.
