Newbie looking for info on Gateway Village housing!!!

    Advertisements
Hello everyone. This is my first post. We are pcsing to SD in Aug09. I need to find out what the housing at Gateway Village is like. Anyone live there? My husband's orders say that he will be reporting to CNRSW. They also say that he will report to PSD at Point Loma. So we have no clue what base he will working on. Anywho, all the info you can give about that housing and Point Loma would be awesome.

I live in NTC housing which is close to Gateway and exactly like Gateway housing. It is really nice, newer housing in a nice location. I prefer NTC's location a little better, but they're both nice. There are no dogs or cats allowed, and no real yards (just small courtyards) but lots of parks.

All I know about Gateway is that the wait list for 4 BR is about 9-11 mos. What size house do you need?? I have a friend who lives out there, it's gorgeous housing. NTC and Serra Mesa are pretty close in floorplans as well.

We have a son. Would we be able to be on that waitlist with only two dependents? Why do you prefer NTC? Is the traffic or nieghborhood bad GV?

Yep, they have 2 bedroom units. There really isn't much difference between the neighborhoods of Gateway and NTC, but NTC has a preschool right in the middle of it and a huge park and some really nice charter schools in walking distance that I prefer to the elementary school next to Gateway. So that's about it. They are very close to each other. NTC is a little closer to subase and is right across from ASW, and Gateway is right across from MCRD. Gateway's a little closer to the freeway.

There is a preschool right in NTC housing. As for daycare, there are daycares on Subase and MCRD that are very close to Gateway (MCRD is right across the street) but they have waitlists. The waitlist for Subase is longer than MCRD. MCRD is just for 2-5 year olds, Subase is for infants as well. Hope that helps!

I put Aiden on the MCRD daycare waitlist today. By the time we get there he will have been on it for 5 months. Hope he gets a spot in Aug. I want to try to get a job ASAP. Thanks for the info. Now does anyone know any month to month rentals in Point
    Loma?
