Navy Fiance Looking for New Friends

    Advertisements
My fiance and I have been together for 15 months and I am new to the military lifestyle, navy life to be specific. He left for bootcamp in March and we got engaged in June. We are still adjusting to the whole long distance relationship, but are doing well. I recently moved to Vero Beach, it is on the east coast by Ft. Pierce, and my fiance is in Pensacola. I am looking for some new friends and anyone to talk to about the military life. Any advice is always appreciated, as I am new to all of this.

I am excited to meet new people and make some fiends that understand how hard this journey can be.

Did you find A school to be the easiest part of the journey. If he gets sea duty, but the shop is docked, does he still get to connect me on a regular basis?

Oh my husband is a Marine. His A school and C school were both on Naval bases though. I did find A school to be easy because up until that point we had spent the last 4 months (3 at boot camp and 1 at combat training) only able to communicate through letters. In A school he was able to call regularly so that made things way better

If the is with a ship or a squadron when they are home it should be fairly easy to be in communication with them. I have always known that if you are in pcola you are going to a squadron. but I am learning about the surface warfare side right now since we are on a ship base with aviation. As long as they are home comms are open when they aren't working.

If his ship is home, he should have more or less a regular working schedule. It's possible he'll work nights or some other odd shift, but it should be more or less predictable, with him able to go home almost every day (assuming he lives off the ship; when are you planning on getting married and will you move to him at that point?). Maybe once or twice a month he might stand duty, but it will be mostly like a more normal job as far as access to communication.
