I can't find many pictures of the housing and I've been looking every where. I tried calling today but I think they are closed for MLK day. I'll share whatever I find out with you guys as soon as I get some answers. So far, one of the pros of living on base for us would be the schools.

I am moving there in less than a month to be with DH....here is what we were told by housing....living on base is convenient and there are some really nice and new places to live BUT most of the new ppl coming in are getting the old housing that hasnt been remodeled yet....(not so great places) BUT most of those ppl will also be getting moved whenever a new place gets finished (about a year after waiting your turn)....We are going to live off base. I think we are going to just do an apt/condo for now (The Reserve and Jacksonville Commons)...that way there is a pool for DD and I, fitness center, everything right there- plus only a few miles from base

They have redone the housing at Camp Lejeune. From what I have seen, it's very nice. Also, if you decide to live in town, it's really not that expensive.

I don't know much about the housing on base. I know that they wanted to move us into the old housing and then we would have to wait for the new and we saw which old ones they were thinking of putting us in and we said NO we will live off base. I know the new housing looks very nice.
We ended up buying because of the growth and resale value. We moved in the town outside of Jacksonville and it is wonderful. We are away from the hussle and bussle of Jacksonville. Jacksonville can be a pain in the ass with the traffic. I will look for the website that has some pictures of housing. There are a lot of houses/duplexes for rent in the area. There are a couple of areas you need to stay away from when looking for rentals and such. You may want to think about places if the rent sounds to good to be true. If anybody wants the names of the places out of Jacksonville that I know of I can let you know. |

Here is a website for housing and shows a couple of pictures. Most of the pictures are of old housing I believe.
