I knew this day would come when he signed the papers joining the AF back in April, I just didn't think it would come so soon. When we bought our house three years ago, I didn't think we would ever move. I thought my house would be my forever home. His orders are for Ft Meade, which I am grateful for. Our first PCS and they have us on the road Thanksgiving Day. Great timing, huh?! I guess things could be worse.

I am hanging in there with all of the stress of our first big move. His MTL is telling him we aren't qualified for DLA. We are going ask about that when we get up to where we are going. So, this move has us doing everything out of pocket until we are reimbursed.

We haven't found tenants yet for our home, which is also adding to our stress. So, if you know if anyone needing anything near Whiting, I am your lady!! I keep telling myself "God will provide, it will all work out". My patience is starting to wear thin.

I called the housing people on our new base, and they upgraded us to a 4 bedroom, and I am excited about that, but I think I might like the floor plan of the 3 bedroom better. Being new, I don't know if I should take the 4 br and appreciate the extra room, or go with the floor plan I like the best.

Look at both houses when you get there.... and decide then..

DLA? (dis location allowance?). We usually have the movers come move our things, which they will for him also (or should?), then we pay to drive down, and are reimbursed within a week of him filling out his voucher.

Yeah, the Dislocation Allowance. The Movers are moving our things, but because we are moving over the holidays, there is no room at any bases to stay on the drive up. So, we have to stay at hotels and it's pricey due to Holidays. And housing won't be open until that Monday, which means a week in hotels!! $$$ YIKES!
