Hey! I've been in Gulfport since July... there are a lot of apartments that are pretty nice...but the area around the base isnt very nice so you might not want to get something right outside the gate.

I lived in Mississippi (in Hattiesburg, which is an hour north of Gulfport) my whole life before college and I love it. From the coast, you're an hour from New Orleans and an hour from Mobile.. An hour from Hattiesburg. Two hours from Jackson.
Although the coast is slowly making a come back, It's still trying to pick up the pieces of Katrina even 4 years later. There are some beautiful properties in Gulfport, but I've never lived there myself so I can't vouch for any. DB lives in Gulfport, but he's deployed, and when he's not, he's in Ohio at college. Good luck. When you get there, welcome to the south.

Raychel. I live in Hburg too
![]() As far as gulfport if he doesn't want to commute too far alot of people live in saucier, south stone county/north harrison or ocean springs. Long Beach and Pass Christian are popular too. DH commutes 1.5 hours and its not too bad. It's worth it for us for the community, cheaper housing, better schools etc.

We live on base and it's not bad. I live directly across from the new Gym. The houses over by the front gate are best because they are newest. They have ceramic flooring. DOn't get Lad Circle. It's up to but if your just starting off housing would be good because you can get in and they automatically take everything out. The only bill you have would be internet or satelite. We get our trash taken twice a week and recycling once a week andhousing is there to fix any problems we have.

By the way Mississippi has more bugs per square inch then any other state. That is my opinion. Not a fact. Just a heads up and don't go in the water. You have to go to Alabama to swim in the Ocean or out to one of the Islands on the other side. That is what everyone has told me and if you look at the water, it looks like you will get a disease. Although three rivers is nice to seim but it's hard to get parking.
