Savannah Hotels/Things to do
Hi ladies
hopefully some of yall can give me some good advice/thoughtsDF and I are going to be in Savannah in a few weeks for a family reunion. The reunion is over the weekend and we're staying on Tybee with some family for that time. BUT I think we might try and stay a few days later than his family is so we're talking about getting a hotel and exploring Savannah. Here's my first question. Since we're doing the beach thing over the weekend we kind of want to focus on the history/atmosphere of Savannah. Is it WORTH staying in a hotel in the historic district or would we be fine staying somewhere like midtown and just driving a little bit longer? Second Question..Stuff to do: Is there anything you all would suggest to do around town thats not completely geared toward cheesy tourist traps? Here's kind of what we're wanting to do 1. DF is a big history nerd, especially civil war era history (I am too when it comes to this), so suggestions about where to go for that stuff would be appreciated. But I just wanna experience the old beauty of it all . 2. Ghost tours: are any of them worth it? Or just tourist traps? Because if we could find a genuinely good one we DEFINITELY wanna do that. 3. Also, Paula Deen's restaurant? Yah or nah?

I did a walking ghost tour twice while I lived there. It was okay but I would have rather just coughed up the extra money and did a better one.
Was in GA for almost 5 yrs, never did Paula Deen's. You can check out her menu online. We never went because nothing really seemed like something we would eat. And I heard they are super expensive. Definitely check out Wet Willies if you're a drinker. Its my favorite place Downtown.

I'm not too sure about the history stuff and I've never been on one of the ghost tours but I highly recommend River Street. I went to college about 45 mins away from Savannah and River Street is a blast! That's really the only thing I can think of besides that and Tybee Island. I don't know what are tourist traps and what are not but I think there are some ladies on here that currently live in Savannah so hopefully they can help you out! Good luck and have fun, Savannah is a beautiful city!

I've heard paula dean's is waaaay over rated
Never been there myself though. I have been to the Pink House and I can tell you from first hand experience that that place was phenomenal. Definitely recommend it for a place to eat and have a few drinks at ![]() There is a haunted pub crawl that I heard is awesome to go on. They take you to all of the different haunted pubs in savannah, everybody drinks at each bar, and they tell you the history of the ghosts, the sitings, things that have happened there, etc. I heard it's the best tour to go on, if you're of age, in Savannah
