Laurel Bay Housing/Parris Island

I posted in the PCS thread too. Jsut trying to figure out where to live near Parris Island.
Hubby just got orders to Parris Island from Camp Pendleton to a weapons training battalion. (He's a grunt btw) Is it like being a DI? Anybody?!
I was looking up housing and it is sort of confusing as to where we can go. he is an E-4 so I know where we can go on base, but off base is where we'd like to be like Laurel Bay (is that off base but still close to PI?)

I live on Laurel Bay, actually we're about to PCS our selves to camp Lejeune. DH is stationed on Parris Island and it's about a 20 min drive to P.I. It is base houisng but it's far enough away to be owned by the Island. I personally love Laurel Bay, the staff there is always helpful and you don't have to pay for water, electric, ect. and you don't have to worry about your yard. You also get your own house and you don't have to worry about much. I have friends who live out in town and there paying more than they should for what they're getting. Let me know if you have any more questions about Beaufort or P.I. or anything. DH worked in RTR so I can't help ya much with Weapons.

Thanks for the help. have been trying to figure out what housing to sign up for and Laurel bay seemed nice. i was happy to see that we could paint the walls, put up pictures. And about paying too much, SoCal has the WORST housing rates. The BAH is 1612 here.
I am going to miss that extera money we don't get in SC.
They STILL haven't resent his orders with dependents. The first ones came without me on them. oops!

I miss laurel bay...its has been nine months since we moved up to NC. My hometown is Beaufort. Sigh..... I wouldn't complain about BAH...it is even lower in Camp lejeune.
