    Gulfport,MS!

    Advertisements
Hey everyone! Dh just got word that his command is relocating. It will be probably be from a year from now. I was kinda of sad about the news because where we are now is four hours from home. But Gulfport puts us halfway from home and Texas which is our second home so, I'm ok with it. I just wanted to know what's it like down there? I have two boys, a three year old and a seven month old right now. Are there fun things to do? How is housing? How is the area? Fill me in with anything please! Thanks!

My husband is stationed in Gulfport but we live 75 miles north b/c we don't like it. I grew up here. Housing is nice, it's mostly all new. If you like to drink and gamble, it's your place lol.

There are a few places you can take your kids. There's Lynn Meadows Discovery Center in Gulfport and then the Mary C Center in Ocean Springs. Are you going to be attached to CBC Gulfport or Keesler AFB?

How old are your children again and how long will you be living down here? If your kids will go to school down here I highly recommend NOT living in Gulfport. If you can live in Biloxi or Ocean Springs that would be best. Long Beach has a good school district as well.

PM if you have any more questions.

Just those and you can go to the children's museum in NOLA or day trip to Jackson, there are a few there. There's Chuck E Cheese and a jump place in Diberville. I agree do not live in Gulfport if they are school age, another reason for our 75 mile commute, the schools.

We won't be attached to AFB. By CBC do you mean Seabees? If yes, then yes. My son would be 4 by then, so he would be in preschool. We would be down in April and we would have to move again in October. I'm sad about it because I'll be taking him out of school ( he will be attending head start in August here in Wisconsin up until our move)then again in October. Are the schools that bad down there? Over crowded? Teachers don't care? What's going on there? Thanks girls. At least I know my boys won't be bored.
