The great thing about this is that you can adjust the spice to your likeing!
You will need: a big pot ground meat (2lbs) (i use beef, you can use turkey or chicken etc. ) salt and pepper 1 pk chili kit (by gravys-make sure it is the kit) 1 can stewed tomatoes (chili kind are the best) 8oz i think 4 reg size cans tomato sauce (i think 8oz) 2 sm size cans tomato paste (3 or 4 oz) 1 med size can of corn (6oz?) (gold and white mix the best) 1 reg size can of kidney beans (dark or light ok) minced garlic chili oil or crushed red pepper if desired 6 servings white rice (cooked) shredded cheese (i use sharp chedder) 6 thin slices jalepeno (fresh is best) 1/4 chopped small 1. saute meat and garlic with a little salt and pepper until brown. if excess grease, drain if not leave it. 2. Add the tomato sauce, tomato paste and stewed tomatoes. Add seasonings as directed on chili kit. 3. simmer at least 1hr (the longer the spicier) 4. Add beans and corn. Simmer 15 more mins. 5. scoop 1 serving rice in bowl, 1 serving chili on top of that, add red pepper and chili oil if you wish, garnish with a mound of cheese, spoonfull of onions and jalepeno. 6. best served w/jiffy cornbread muffins Last edited by OneBoyOneGirl; 08-02-2008 at 08:27 AM. |
