Whats the correct abbreviation for Afghanistan? Just wondering!

Correct as in factually or by what the military population refers to it as? For most of the mil pop on my end at least it is refered to as the A-Stan, also known as the sandcovered hades. For the actual abbr. there is the google machine.

A lot of people say AF. I'm not sure if that's technically correct, though.

ive seen people on here refer to it as "afghan" or "the ghanny"

i dont see whats wrong with just saying Afghanistan though.

I also frequently refer to it as purely just "the stan" to my circle of friends, of course it has also been refered to as many other things, both overly descriptive or not. Such as the 10th level of hell, and the land of ieds...lol.

I dont have a problem with saying Afghanistan, I was just trying to make a ticker and I didnt have room to fit the whole word in, so I thought Id use the abbr.!

It's AF. Both for airports and for postal services.

I'm not sure if that would be an OPSEC violation, because I think there are other people on here that have it on their tickers. I personally wouldn't put it though.
