So...I think I put too much crap in this...
Oregano
onion salt
garlic salt
garlic powder
a smidge of lemon juice
Tabasco sauce
little soy sauce
black pepper
beef bouillon
...and twice as much water as it calls for.
Still tastes like the same icky brown rice...I also cooked it three times as long...and let it sit three times as long to absorb the water.
Luckily, this was all that was left of the brown rice...so next time I get rice...I can get white! I just can't justify buying more white rice until I was done with the brown rice.
I do like the idea of doing half and half...that probably would be pretty good!![]()
I like brown rice tuna salad.
Cold brown rice
Tuna
celery
malt vinegar
italian salad dressing
I might be forgetting some stuff... but its basically like tuna pasta salad, but with brown rice instead.
My mom also uses brown rice when making stuff in the crockpot. A Jewish food she makes is called cholent, it has brown rice, a hunk of meat, potatoes, and carrots, in the crockpot.
R.I.P. My Love, Everyone was supposed to come home together, I'm sorry you had to come home early
I love brown rice, but it needs spices to flavor it up! I usually add it with a meal, like chicken and red sauce or a Mexican dish, so I can kind of mix it all together. Very tasty! I also like adding butter and sea salt.
Instead of using water to boil the rice in, I use the low sodium chicken broth. I use the minute brown rice too. I boil the broth, then add the rice and stir until all is boiling again, then cover it up while turning off the heat. It seems to soften it up a little and add some flavor to it as well.
I didn't think about the chicken broth...and I actually have some!
Ah well...next time...IF I ever buy brown rice again, that is.
