    Has anyone ever made bread from scratch before? Any tips/tricks?

    use warm (closer to lukewarm) water, then add the sugar and stir til dissolved. This is what the yeast eats, and makes your bread rise better. The warmth helps the yeast activate. NOT HOT water, that will kill the yeast. Then add your yeast (if using dry from a jar or pkg). Let it sit for a while until it looks frothy. Then add your oil to that, and your salt, and mix it into the rest of the dough. That's the best method to start with.

    I just followed my poster for now but I'm listening to you next time because my yeast never looked "frothy" ...

    Ummm..I'll ahve to think. I love my bread recipe, it's the easiest ever
