Well, if you don't have any money to move into an apartment and no BAH, I suggest staying where you are now with your current living arrangements until your BAH kicks in.

I don't know your situation but the logical thing in my mind is for you to wait until you are receiving his BAH for sure & wait until you have the funds available to make the move.

What do you do? You wait until you can afford the things you want, just like any other decision.

That said, with BAH, it should be back paid so whatever he is owed for the time he hasn't been paid the BAH will be paid in a lump sum once the paperwork goes through.

Are you even in the same state with him yet? Less than a week ago you were trying to figure out how to get yourself and your stuff out to him, so it sounds like you aren't even together yet.

Why don't you have BAH yet? Are you newly married?

BAH hasn't kicked in? Did you just get married? Are you living on base?

Like others have said you will get pack paid for the amount you are owed...BAH only goes up a few hundred dollars after you get married, so he is probably getting BAH but is living on base so the Military is just taking it right back out of his pay to pay for housing on base. Even if you don't get the few hundred dollars for married BAH, your DH should be able to move out of the barracks and get single person BAH.

In my experience, many apartment complexes are lenient with military. They know you will get XXX for BAH and really aren't too worried about credit scores and stuff...Still be prepared to pay for deposits and first months rent before moving in, but as long as the rent is less than BAH most places welcome renters if they are military.

I suggest looking around and getting an idea of what apartments are out there, moving across country, I found apartment review websites SUPER helpful.... I would also ask guys/girls here about the base you are moving to to get an idea of what areas of town to stay away from...
