Might be best if we know why you would be going to one of those three Japanese cities.

Are you/your husband government contractors, working for completely non-military related companies or? Knowing what the purpose of your move will be will help to answer the questions you have.

If you or your husband are gov't. you MIGHT have access to military base like a military family. My sister was applying for a job in Spain and she thinks she won't get it but they would move her like a military member and she would have access to the commissary, Nex and base housing as well as taking the dog.

It would all depend on what the job is and the company sending you also weather you are contractor or govn't. Who ever is sending you, you need to talk to them about what is being offered so you can make a good choice.

Yes his a dod.we never been overseas as a civilian but we are in Georgia right now waiting when to go and what to do before leaving like what to bring for the kids from their school here to transfer there if I'm allowed to bring their dog. My furniture do I really have to down size. As a civilian but for the US government are able to lived off base on base can we use commissary and hospital???????those kind of question make me worry.

It's really going to depend on your specific situation, but it is possible for contractors overseas to live on base and have base access/privileges.

If you live off base, there will be housing nearby that caters to Americans.

However it's going to be really hard for people to give you anything other than very general answers because we don't know the circumstances etc. of your situation.

These really are questions that would be best answered by the contracting agency he will be working for.
