    Airport gate question??

Not sure if this is true anymore or not but I thought I had read on here of families being able to meet their returning military member at their gate? Does anyone have info on this?
    TIA.

Depends on the individual airport's policy. Contact the airport that (s)he'll be flying into for details.

I was able to go to the gate when he left, I'm hoping to be able to take our son to the gate when he gets home. It's a really small airport.

I completely depends on the airport and the people working the check-in desk. I was able to go back and meet DH at the gate when he came home on R&R. They also let me go back and wait at the gate with him when he left at the end of R&R. However, the lady almost didn't let me go back because the line for security was so long.

    So short answer...it completely depends.

I got to go back and wait with DH when he left for our current duty station... I thought it was weird. But he was in uniform so I didn't know if that had something to do with it. Also because he was in uniform we got put through a special (special because it was shorter/faster and they don't have to remove their boots, etc) security line. We were at a fairly larger airport...

I would think maybe if you called ahead you might be able to arrange it then so you'd be more likely to end up going back?

Depends on the airport and the gate agent. Not all do.

We've done it at a few airports on the east coast. You just need your IDs (whoevers going back) and the military members name/flight info and they'll give you boarding passes that you take through security and all, except its just for getting to the gate and not really boarding.

ditto....just please, don't go in expecting them to do it and having an attitude if they don't because if they don't they are following policy.
