    Fraternization

Does it extend across all branches or is it just for whatever branch the service member is in? Oh and by fraternization I'm talking about like SNCO's making friends with Junior Enlisted because their wives are friends.

Can the SCNO (I have no clue what that is, btw) have any influence on the junior enlisted's career? If not I see no harm.

I think it depends of they are in the same chain of command. If they aren't then they might be ok. But all depends on how the command handles it

I think that has a lot to do with it. I also think some branches or commands make a bigger deal out of it if it's Officer and Enlisted.

DH is friends with several NCOs and SNCOs outside of work. When they are at work, DH doesn't expect any special treatment because their friendship. A buddy of DH's did expect special treatment and that caused some problems.

NCO = Non Commissioned Officer and SNCO is Senior Non Commissioned Officer.

Only direct chain of command *GENERALLY* Some commands have rules but in general, it only applies to people that are directly in the same chain of command and than sometimes it depends.

ETA: But for example *I will use my parents* we have had family friends that were officers and enlisted. I became friends with the son of the base commander and our parents were around each other many time. I have a friend here whose husband is second in command at his sqd and she has parties and get togethers often and she invites a varied mix of enlisted families and officer families.

As long as it doesn't affect their work I see no problem with it.

DH and I go shooting with his PL and XO and their SOs, we do dinners with 2 of the Lts and their SOs that live in the area, DH and his PL along with several other Os have beer nights at his PLs house since his PL brews his own beer. We also go to the beach with several guys DH works with (SNCO and lower enlisted). We are signed up to do the Tough Midder as a big team of guys DH works with (SNCO, junior enlisted, and Os) and a few of their SOs. Nobody has a problem with any of it and I have never heard of not being able to be friends outside of work because of rank. That is just ridiculous.

I also think it depends on command. When DH was an NCO he still hung out with his friends all the time ... going out drinking, playing video games, etc. I know he didn't let it affect work though and neither did they.
