So DF put in for an AG job almost a year ago and we lost hope on it, but he just got a call and he got it!

But it's in Alaska! We're both young, we have no idea what to expect!

We don't know anything about housing loans or all the bills we will have to pay or transferring all our information and were just kinda in shock right now!

I guess what I'm asking is what should we expect?! People wise? Ive heard that most mil Families are close with each other! Bill wise? Anything?!!

I'm just kinda at a loss for words

This is what we need but it's just scary!

Sorry if it's not clear on what I'm seeking advice for I don't know really how to get it out with words!

See if there's an FB for his unit. Maybe there will be folks on there who can give you tips on what to expect.

We drove by Delta Junction... We like Alaska so far. Sounds like a cool opportunity. Good luck on your decision.

Delta Junction isn't a big city/town, but Fairbanks is just an hour or two up the road. I see you're from Ohio, so I'm assuming used to some cold/snowy winters? (I'm from Florida, not sure about where the snowy/freezing winters begin. haha) In Fairbanks, this past winter's temps ranged from 10* above zero, to 52* below zero. The darkness is not exactly the best thing in the world, but you get through it. Summers are BEAUTIFUL up here!

Something to warn you about is the cost of living - VERY expensive up here, but BAH/COLA do help compensate for it. If you are going to rent a place off post, check to see what utilities are included and look for one with heating fuel included -> HUGE cost for the winter.

When are you supposed to arrive?

Let me know if you have any other questions!
