Hope you had a good Veteran's Day. Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself as your Secret Sister. Were you lucky enough to get the holiday off today or did you have to work?

I had the day off

So did DF so it was very nice! We actually went to Best Buy at the crack of dawn and stood in line (sorta) until they opened to get the laptop on sale! My laptop has been on the fritz for a while now, so I was VERY excited

How was your Veteran's Day?

I was off as well so it was fantastic! I went shopping with my sister for a bit, talked to DB and then went shopping with one of the FRG wives. We're getting gifts for all the kids under 18 who's parent is deployed. It was really fun to do all that shopping!

That's awesome that you got a new laptop! DB has been talking about getting a new one so hopefully we can find a good deal like you did once he's back.

So any fun plans for the weekend?

that's so nice that you guys are doing that for the kids though! they will be so very appreciative

this weekend -
Friday night - my friends and i do a monthly game night and rotate houses, so i'm going to a friends house for game night
Saturday - i'm in a volunteer organization that works with youth that have aged out of foster care (so over 18) and are kinda left to fend for themselves. we give donations and school supplies, etc. well this saturday we are taking them to a play in Los Angeles, so that should be fun.
Sunday - i'm having some friends over to scrapbook and hang out.

should be a fun weekend. poor DF though, he really only gets to benefit from game night, but he needs to study. he's taking a HUGE certification exam on Monday

what about you?

having yesterday off work was fun, but today feels like another monday

Yeah, I had a lot of fun picking out the gifts. I don't have kids though so it was really helpful that the other lady was a mother. I wouldn't have known what to get with some of the ages. We made it easier with teh older kids (13 and over) and got them Visa gift cards. That age is SO hard to shop for! Tonight we have our next FRG meeting and we'll be wrapping all the gifts and getting them ready to hand out later.

This weekend I'll be doing homework and cleaning. I have been seriously neglecting the housework and need to get it done. I moved us into a new apt just after he went back after R&R adn still haven't finished completely unpacking.

(We've been there since Sept 1.) Whoops! lol

Today did feel like another Monday, but one of the guys told me on the real Monday this week that we get two thursdays and two fridays this week. I liked his mentality MUCH better!

We are hopefully going to be guying a home in the Spring, so I'm scared to pack and unpack. I don't wanna

I hope this deployment is going well for you. Tim is actually getting OUT of the military. He's done his 5 years and his request for terminal leave just got approved

A little over a month left. I can't freaking wait

Unpacking IS a daunting task, but mainly because I'm doing it alone! Packing isn't as bad though. You just throw things into boxes and label them. Its the unpacking and finding places for everything-part that kinda sucks. If you're not doing it alone though it shouldn't be as bad. Last time we moved he helped me move everything to our new apt and then took off for a week of training the next morning, so I was stuck doing it by myself then too.

He's got awesome timing huh?!

That's awesome that he's getting outa the military! (I remember counting the days and then hours both when I was AD and NG.

) What are your plans for afterwards?

Let's see our plans - well we want to buy a home together with the Veteran's Loan in the Spring. We are getting married in the Summer. And maybe some kids in a few years.

DF is job searching right now.

We are really counting on him finding a good job, so I'm hopeful. He's taking a big certification tomorrow.

I hope he does well!!!

Basically everything relies on him getting a good job. No pressure

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. Its been a LONG week, but its finally TGIF!

Well, your plans sound like fun! A new house AND a wedding in the near future?

How did his certification go? What was it for? I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it went well for you guys.

Do you have any fun plans for the upcoming weekend? I get to do a little shopping and a little hunting. Best of both worlds!

He passed!!! We are pretty excited. He was able to apply for a lot more jobs, so i'm hoping he hears from someone soon!

Hunting eh? DF used to hunt when he lived in Michigan but hasn't gone since being in CA. What do you hunt?
