    Question rum ball question!

    ok so not really a holiday recipe, but i usually only make them at christmas.. anywhoo
    I have always used Bacardi Dark Rum.. well when I went to the class six the other day all they had was Spiced rum ( Sailor Jerry to be exact) I have never used spiced rum. do you think ( those that have made the bacardi rum balls) it will make a difference?

    ( incase anyone was wondering all that is in them.. crushed nilla wafers, rum and walnuts )

    I don't have a clue about the recipe, but I had some rumballs today at a Christmas coffee brunch and they were yummy!

    I don't know what a difference it would make in sweets but in when I use it while cooking, spiced rum seems like it has a little bit of a kick to it.
    I guess it never hurts to try!

    It does taste different since rum balls aren't cooked and i didn't particularly like it. you could try a lighter rum vs the dark- i've used jamaican rum (it's tan) in them before and it was quite good.

    update.. well i made them using the spiced rum. personally i couldn't tell the difference although that batched SUCKED because I didn't crush the wafers enough or chop the nuts up really well. but.. making another batch today those should turn out better.
