Are you talking about through the military or on a personal leval?
I do the child care through my home through the FCC(Army) And i dont mind it much. it takes a bit to get started but i think its worth it in the end. If you have anymore direct questions feel free to ask. |

I definitely want to know more about it too. I plan to have a Home Child Development Center in a few years. I'd do the certification through the Navy too, but I also want to see if I can get NAEYC accreditation or something. I don't know if they do that for home centers.
What sorts of questions are you wanting answers to?

I have thought about doing that after I have the baby since my other 2 will be in school most of the day during the school year. The only thing I would worry about is people paying on time. When my children were in daycare I remember there were always people that didn't pay the provider on time.

no but they have a "lending library" you can get everything from paint to nap mats at our. The one through the Navy is the same as the one from the Army.
You always have to option to deny care to a child for lack of payment! Even if you dont like th ekid and they are mean and hateful to you or your children you can cancel their Contract. I know here at our center they hook us up with a basic contract that has a 2 week trial period and such stated in it. Also in each section they have to inital it saying the read it. If they dont pay you, you can go to the command and get your money that way. And any child you have will have to be reg with central reg so you will have a packet with all the info at your hands in case of anything. The training isnt that hard. They provide free child care in an hourly room durring your traing (at least here they did). You also get certified in CPR (child/infant) and 1st aid. One nice thing is anything you buy for your home to your rent if you live off base to your car payment and internet you can write off a portion of as an expence. You should take some time and call your CYS (Child and yuth Services) or even the CDC on base and ask for info. You will go in and watch an orientation and be able to ask all sorts of questions to see if its right for you. You can make your own hours and prices per week based on what ages yo have. Anymore questions? |
