Online Classes?
I am going to take some classes online when I get to WA. I may start with one to see how I do at the online thing. I feel like I am a more lecture/notes learner, and am nervous about it.
So, question is, What is a good class to start with, that would help me to see if I am cut out for online learning? |

Do you have any college background?
This is my first college and I'm doing online classes. It isn't as bad as I thought it would be. You just really have to be dedicated to do it EVERY day. My algebra instructor gives like 3 assignments every 2-3 days with a quiz after each assignment, a calculator quiz after every 3 assignments, then an exam after every 6 assignments. It is a LOT to keep up with (i fyou haven't noticed by my being so MIA lately )I am the same as you. I can't just read something or look at something and memorize/learn it. I have to REALLY TRULY understand it and comprehend it. My psychology class is more of a reading/notes type class. Its a little confusing when you first start but you will find that you get sucked into it as you learn more. Psychology is usually interesting to almost everyone because you learn stuff that applies to your every day life and everything that you say, do, think, etc. I think that when you're genuinely interested in something, you WANT to learn and understand, so it's easier to learn and understand. I personally believe that psychology would be a good one for you to start with. I'm just doing the very basic Intro to Psychology. One of the next ones I need to do is my English Comp I. Before I do any more classes that will require me to write essays and papers, I think it would be a good idea to brush up on exactly how to compose good papers. So, I think that would be the next logical class for me to take. English would probably be a good one for you to start with also. Honestly, from my very little bit of experience, I probably would not start with a Math class unless you particularly like math and/or are really good at it. If it weren't for my husband being VERY good at it (he aced a Calculus class online!), I would probably be miserably failing right now. He's been my real support system through it so far. Are you doing an online school or a community college?

I'm doing online classes through the local community college but I plan on transferring to the Jacksonville Community College next semester. They offer more distance learning courses that I will need for my RN degree. I can't do any online schools b/c of the nursing classes that I need, which obviously aren't done online.

Thanks Brandi! Yeah, I'm right there with you on the Math. I think I may start with an English course. It is my strong subject.
I will be doing it through a community college. My ultimate goal is to get a Bachelor's in nursing, and after the kids are grown go to med school. |

I take a class that is a hybrid online class. I go to school two times a week and do online work too. It's an English class and I love it. I have not been in school for about 20 years so I took a somewhat easy course for my first online class. It was an HIV/AIDS class only two credits.

Jen, that HIV/AIDs class sounds very interesting. I think I know a little about it already, so it would be interesting to learn more, and it is something I am interested in, so it would be easy to stay focused. I am interested in most diseases, wanting to be a Doc and all.
