The most $ you've taken out in student loans? - School & Work

DB says I'm crazy for the amount of loans I have and that he's hesitant to marry into my debt...

I say it's an investment in my future even though it will be a pain and most likely an issue if/when we get married.

I told him if I just take 3 years and put a huge part of my salary to loans (like...1/2 of what I earn if I'm earning 50k) they will be gone. And if we are living together that will take away a lot of my expenses. however, if I pay $500 a month for 20 years i will end up paying back thousands and thousands of dollars in interest... (like $50,000...)

I took out $36000 and once it's all said and done I'll owe just over 60k. Not happening. My minimum payment on one loan is $1010 and I can't afford that. I'm paying the two smaller ones and when I win the lottery the other one will get paid.

hmmm..

I just incurred $60,000 of student loan debt for my MBA and I have to incur another $12,000 in order to successfully take the courses for the CPA exam and take the CPA exam. I am married, but my husband knows that this will be taken care of 20 fold when I have my own business and can market myself. Plus your student loans can always be merged into your mortgage. Re-financed is what I mean. Student Loans are good debt, credit cards are BAD!

$0.00 is the grand total of education loans taken out between me and my son, and my DH I do believe. Not sure about him though.

I do not have any yet, but I for graduate school I will need about $20,000. However, because of the field I'm going into 17,000 will be forgiven so we'll only be paying 3-4,000

Undergrad- Incurred 15000
Grad- Will have incurred about 35000.

When it's all said and done, I'll owe about 50,000

I think its very smart and you and your DB have been talking about finances. My dad told me that before I get married to disclose how much debt I will have ( and the same goes with df, only he has no debt ). I know much of my income will be going towards paying down these student loans for a while. I'm hoping to have much of it taken care of before I start thinking about having children.
