Online school recommendations (for dh)
Hey all,
we're looking into online colleges for the dh so he can slowly work up to a bachelors--right now we're focusing on an associates. Any recommendation or pros/cons about certain online colleges? We're looking for something that lets him use his TA, has flexible class schedules that don't work off of traditional university semester periods, etc. so far i've heard columbia southern is good. any others we should look into? thank you

Maybe American Military University? They allow TA! Several here do online schools with them and love it.

I went to St.Leo University. I mainly went on base for my classes, but did a handful online. You can do all online if you need to. All the classes are accelerated and 8 weeks long. I have 1 AA and a BA in Criminology and a BS in Psychology from there. Also went to USC (Univ. of Southern California) for my Masters.

bachelors in what? Anything in specific?
I got my bachelors from a state university in IL called Governors State University. They work really well with the military and do a mixture of online, telecourses, and correspondence courses. I loved it cause I got a general bachelors from them and they took all my credits from all of my majors and schools I had gone too...which was a big deal because I was indecisive. With my husbands military training and education they're accepting 100 credits for him and he's never spent a day in school...he only needs to do 30 credits with them for his bachelors. Just an idea if your husband is looking for a bachelors and doesn't care what its in. For more specific degrees that will change the advice you get here...some schools are better in different fields. |

Currently we're focusing on an associates degree then, will be going on to a bachelors. currently there's no specific AA/AS, we're mainly focused on general education. We're hoping he can finish his bachelors over the course of the next 15 years, so this is nothing we're rushing about.
We're not looking to traditional university semester style where he has to start for example in Aug/Jan, etc. Columbia Southern has it to where classes can be finished in as short as 3 weeks to as long as 8 weeks so there's some leeway for him. that's the sort of format we're trying to find in other online universities. Do any of the universities you ladies list allow you to include books or give military book grants so its covered under TA?
