Theres one here in Cheyenne, and everytime I mention it to anyone they say not to go there. They said its a waste of money and that credits dont transfer often. I cant find anything on this.
Anyone know anything about this? Do credits actually not transfer? Is there anything different about them?

I hope someone can help you more.

Transfer to where? The University of Phoenix is an accredited university, so their degrees are just as valid as any other university. It's not really the type of school you transfer out of though, so I"m not sure what they mean. I supposed if you took classes with them and decided to transfer to a community or state college, it's possible that some units won't transfer because their classes might not be compatible with what they have at another institution. this type of school is a very accelerated program though, so when you start usually you want to finish with them. They don't go by semesters like a state or private school might, their courses are only about 4-6 weeks long and then you move on to the next. My best friend is getting her Bachelor's in Nursing from this school, and she'll be done in about 2 more classes. She has no complaints and has had no issues with them. All her classes have been online. I went to this school also, took a couple of courses but changed my mind on my major, so I decided to move to National University, which is a similar type of school. I have completed my entire Masters Degree online with National, and I am only about 3 classes shy of finishing. Once I"m done I will get a Master's Degree that will be just as valid as my Bachelor's Degree that I got from San Diego State University
.

Thats just what they said. Im worried about us PCSing and not being done, and then not being able to finish. I have some prior credits already, not sure if they accept them. 4-6 weeks per class is a lot better than a whole semester, especially if we are paying for childcare. Ill check out National University too. Theres a UOP here in town so that would be good for us. Thanks for your input!Thats what everyone keeps saying. I know I should go talk to someone there, but I want to hear from others first.

I just started UOP 9 weeks ago (thats how long the classes are) I have finals today. I am doing it all online, so if we PCS, as long as I have internet, I can do school.
They are SUPER HELPFUL!! I get a courtesy call about once every 2 weeks from my academic counselor, she keeps me in line and my financial counselor keeps me updated with everything way in advnace so there are no "oh crap" moments. Now Duncan my "intake" counselor, he is awesome. Because of him, I wont pay a dime for school.... If you want his number I can give it to you.

I chose a different school that is regionally accreditated for the whole university (not just certain programs like U of P), because if you do your research that is one of the most important things. Everything I read said that only certain programs are regionally accreditated (it is nationally accreditated). That and there are CHEAPER online universities that are better accreditated.

Your actually wanting a school that is fully regionally accreditated (surprising huh?). National accredidation is not nearly as important. Do you research. Check around and make sure whatever program you want to do is fully accreditated to what you want to do. I know people who have had no problems finding jobs with U of P degrees (mostly teaching students) and lots who have (mostly business students). This of course is for people who aren't already in the field they are studying in.
