If you've got Junior or Senior status, your choices are pretty much Old Dominion (public, in Norfolk), Norfolk State (public, also in Norfolk), Virginia Wesleyan (private, in VB on Norfolk border) and Regent (private, in VB). I recommend taking as much as possible at TCC. It's a good program, but you need to let them know right away that you plan to major in Education so you need to get courses that will transfer. Here's the link to their Teacher Prep program:http://www.tcc.edu/academics/programs/transfer/teacher/ . One of my daughters is going there now and will transfer to ODU when she needs her upper-level courses. If you're at the point where you only have to take upper-level courses, you'll have to go through a four-year school, so from that point on it's really about the expense.

I'll definitely have to check those schools out though, I may just have to suck it up and deal with the cost, because you are right, I won't be "In-state." I'm not sure how the GI bill works either. If we are married will it pay for my schooling if he transfers it to me?? Is there a time limit?? Or will it pay off my student loans AFTER we are married?? Soooo many questions! Lol But thanks!! Your info helped a TON.

If your DB hasn't left for basic yet, I don't believe he be able to transfer his GI Bill to you. From what I read, under the Post 9/11 GI Bill, at a minimum, a military member must serve at least 6 years and commit to another 4 years, before transferring the GI Bill to a dependent. http://www.gibill.va.gov/GI_Bill_Info/CH33/transfer.htm |

Ohh, ok. He leaves for bootcamp on Tuesday. So I guess that's out the window. :/ Maybe we can use it to pay off students loans... :/
And thanks!!! I checked out that Old Dominion school and it looked really really awesome!! Expensive, but maybe I can get some financial aide. lol.

ODU. If you are going to be living in this area it is a good school and they have the VA Beach campus that you can go to if you are living in VA Beach
Oh I go to ODU and am in the Education Division (even though my degree is Human Services) if you have any questions let me know

I probably won't have many questions just yet, because it will be awhile before I move, and we aren't absolutely POSITIVE that is where he will get stationed.. he just wants Norfolk. Lol. I'm kinda nervous about it though, I've never lived away from home, scaryy!!!!
