I had to write a poem for my English class. Its in the Shakespearan form and follows iambic pentameter (for the most part!)


Waiting

Waiting, waiting everyday I’m waiting.
Waiting for the mail, waiting for a call,
waiting for that knock at the door, hating
that waiting, waiting does nothing at all.

I’m being strong, just like you asked me to,
I don’t mope, I don’t cry, I don’t sit ‘round
wondering why. I stay busy, things to do,
friends to see, classes to take, lost things found.

Fight, you must, in a far’way land,
but never forget the life you’ll come home to.
Think of our wedding, I gave you my hand,
Love, Honor, Cherish, be faithful and true.

One day this waiting will come to an end,
then hap’ly ever after will begin.
