Associates vs. Bachelors
In YOUR opinion-
What are the Pro's and Con's of both? Which do you have? Do you wish you would have done it differently? What do you think of someone obtaining an associates, and later pursuing their education for a bachelors?

It really depends on what major you are going to have, what your career goals are, and how college fits in with your life at the moment. I personally am getting a Bach. because my goal is to go to grad school and possibly teach at a college level. Different careers require/suggest different types of degrees, and I would say that should mainly be your deciding factor.

Bachelor gives you more options but it's twice as much work. I'm getting a bachelor's because the field(s) I'm looking at require it.
If I was back at square one deciding, I'd either go bachelor or certification. There are tons of programs where you graduate with a certification instead of an associates. To me, they're more valuable because you get more hands-on, focused training. Maybe I'm just uneducated about the uses of an associates. What can you do with them?

What are the Pro's and Con's of both? an associates takes less time and less money. it can be done at a community college which is more convenient for some. a batchelors can potentially land you a better job, but costs more money and more time. however, in select instances, a batchelors can over-qualify you for certain positions.
Which do you have? a batchelors and a masters Do you wish you would have done it differently? nope What do you think of someone obtaining an associates, and later pursuing their education for a bachelors? i think that route is great for people who can't or don't want to dedicate the 4 straight years (and tuition) to a batchelors. in fact, in philadelphia if you obtain your associates through CCP, Temple Univ will give you a scholarship towards your batchelors.

I'm currently a sophomore pursuing my bachelors. i'm just really struggling with whether or not I want keep pursuing this (and really racking up the bills) or to complete my associates and later my bachelors.

This is a good question. Glad you brought it up. I'm confused on what to do myself.

Cause in the back of my mind, I know if I do this, I'll get to be with my man sooner. But at the same time, I'm thinking it really might be a better career move. If I get my associates, get real life experience with it, then pursue my bachelors- having experience like that is gold to some employeers. I just worry I won't be able to even get a job with an associates.

Right now I'm getting my associates for nursing, RN. I was planning on getting my BSN instead until we moved and the only local BSN program within a reasonable driving distance is at a private school...so thats out of the question for now. I'm working on my RN for now though and once we move again, I'm hoping there will be a school close enough so I can do RN to BSN.

honestly. I think it depends on what kind of career you want to have or what your goals are. I also believe that your personal situation/finances play a very important factor. going to school full time for four years straight just might not work for some people or just might not be preferable. I see nothing wrong with doing either. just do whatever works best for you
I'm currently working on my bachelors. in my field, i could have gotten an associates and been done with it and started working, but i wanted to earn my bachelors.OP, if you dont mind me asking, what are you majoring in, or what field to you want to pursue?
