Race and Ethnicity Relations Class
I decided, the beginnning of the semester, to take a Sociology Race and Ethnicity class, and I'm extremely glad I did.
As a white person, I never encountered the racism that other groups encountered, which is bitter-sweet in itself. On one hand, I've always been able to do what I've wanted to do because my race/color/ethnic group didn't limit me, but it helped me instead. On the other hand, I was under the impression that racism was something that happened in the "deep south" or on a rare occasion. (I realize now that this is a naive view to have). As a result of this class, I've become jaded to the point where acts of racism no longer surprises me. What would surprise me now, are acts of equality. And that's a sad realization for me to me. ![]() However, now that I've realized this, I can acknowledge it and try to educate myself to be more tolerant of all ethnic/racial groups. **Please don't flame me for this. I realize that race is a very sensitive issue, and I was just sharing something that I felt that I needed to share.**

good for you that you are able to view this differently. i'm currently taking an ethics class and the history around the diferrent races is amazing. i would have to say that i'm glad i signed up for this class also. it has taught me a lot regarding the struggles that everyone has dealt with and continue to deal with.
