Ok, girls. I'm on this new cooking kick, and I need some cooking advice. I'm making this amazing meal tonight but I dont know where to start. I have bacon wrapped filet mignon medallions, and some corn on the cob i want to make specially somehow, some baked potatoes...or I could make mashed...hmm. and I have this amazing butternut squash soup, some broccoli...I dont know what to do with it all. I need some creative ideas. I want to totally WOW everyone with this meal though. HELP!

Corn on the cob is good with rosemary and butter and then wrapped in tin foil and baked..
I would suggest not doing anything to season the fillets, I'd just grill them until rare and use some hickory chips with the coals... I like using hardwoods for beef.. We're having fillet mignon with dinner too.

if you wanted to put rosemary or some spices on the corn, you could carry them over and add a hint to the mashed potatoes. i have this rosemary/garlic spice blend and LOVE adding that to my mashed potatoes. so. good.

we just did something similar with chicken. i precooked the bacon just until done, not till crispy. then rub one side with a bit of brown sugar and sprinkle on pepper. wrap around the meat. then bake. for the steak i'd probably brown it in a pan to lock int he juices and then put in the oven. a george forman would have been awesome too.
for corn we love the sweet butter corn flavor so I always coat the corn completely. like rub int he butter. then lightly salt, wrap in foil then bake or grill. potatos no way to really do them special for baked. just have the toppings like sour cream, bacon bits (left over fresh ones from the bacon you wrap our the steak woudl be awesome), butter chives. if youd o mashed you could do a bit of garlic powder stirred in with some cheddar cheese sprinkled on top. |

forgot the broil part. and if you cook ons tove first you only do it on a high heat long enough to brown the outside for color and to seal in juices.

It seems like you have plenty of ideas for the steak so I'm gonna suggest a recipe for the potatoes.
This is my go to mashed potato recipe..Its ridiculously creamy but rich so you don't have to eat a whollllle lot before your satisfied http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2...shed_potatoes/ |
