Depressed DH

he could possibly be discharged.. Also he can loose his ablity to deploy.. DH has said that if you regularly take anti depressants you can become a danger to yourself and others when you are on ship. ( because you can stop taking them and there is no way to monitor you) and therefore become non-deployable.

Oh man, am I worried now because I know hes going to be put on medication not only for sleeping pills but depression too. I hope they help him because I can't.

Maybe if you tried to reassure him that you and the baby are safe, ok, and happy and nothing is going wrong at all it would help. If it's clinical depression I'm not sure if anything you actually DO will help, just the meds.

No I know he is bipolar, I'm not sure if his depression has anything to do with it. He knows we are fine, I email him almost twice everyday sending him pictures and updates of everything. I think its only because he won't be here for the birth.

If he is diagnosed as bipolar, he needs to be taking meds. Is this your diagnosis or a doctor's? Depression is part of being bipolar. Does the ship know this?

He was diagnosed about a few weeks before he left for deployment but, he hasnt gotten any medication for it.

If its that bad he may end up getting discharged.

I think its bad so far, hes only been in the navy a year and hes already had a minor heart attack, bipolar and a panic attack, maybe he should be home. If it is bad enough, I hope they find out and do whats best for him.

I didn't think that they allowed him in the Navy if he was bipolar? I know you can't usually get IN the military if you are bipolar.

I think so too.. dh is doing recruiting and being diagnosed before navy is a major disqualifier.

Wow, that is a lot of trauma for him to have in less than a year.
