Looking
Hi everyone. I am married to a Marine veteran with PTSD. We had a terrible incident in June and are currently in lots of therapy for his PTSD. While I absolutely love the support group I go to at the VA, there are no other SOs in the group. I'm looking for a group of people who understand what it's like to be in a committed relationship with a veteran with PTSD.

Can't wait for finals!

I'm in Tempe. My boyfriend is currently deployed to Afghanistan, but does have mild PTSD. There is a group for Marine spouses that meets on Thursdays at one of the grocery stores in Mesa, I think... I just got an email about it last week. If you'd like to PM your email, I'll forward the email on to you.

Not all war wounds are visible.

Welcome to the forums. I am married to a war veteran who has PTSD. It is a constant struggle and if you're in for the long haul, it will have its ups, downs, forwards, backwards, old rules, new rules, complicated rules and rules you just do not even know why they'd exist in this PTSD world your spouse lives in. It is an never-ending cycle and a constant battle with a huge obstacle within your path that slows down your progress, stops your progress and/or takes you back to point A. Once you start to see a glimmer of hope one day only to have that glimmer fade away once again.
Please feel free to talk with me. I know exactly what you're going through...

Thank you all for your support. I am beginning to realize exactly how difficult it is. We've been together almost 5 years, married for 2. He was diagnosed with PTSD in June of 2006. He was self-medicating with alcohol until this past June. Now he's taking his therapy seriously and not drinking. It's extremely difficult, but I think we're beginning to figure all this out. Once we do, I'm sure everything will change though. That is the nature of the disorder it seems.

I'm not in a relationship with a veteran who has PTSD, but my father did have PTSD. It was tough in many ways growing up because of it. In that respect I can offer sympathy and understanding!
