Update on DF
DF is doing a lot better. I mean, a ton!
DF woke up yesterday, from a bad dream. He shot out of bed and started flipping out. He calmed down, and laid back down. I asked if he wanted to talk, and he said no he just wanted to go back to sleep. So I said ok, and called his platoon sgt to ask what to do. they instructed an extra dosage of some meds, and let him sleep. So we did that, and he didn't object.
Then the dog decided to eat a set of miniblinds out of the window while we weren't home. And DF came home while I was at my friend's and found them destroyed. He didn't lose his temper. He called me and calmed down. He didn't beat up the dog, just yelled a little bit, told him that's a no-no, and put him in his kennel.
I called a little later to make sure he was ok, and everything was going fine at home. He had laid down after putting the dog in the kennel, played his game for a little, and went to sleep. Sleeping is his distance from reality, his way to calm down. So I try not to interrupt him unless I absolutely have to, or I'm away and don't know he's asleep.
He's sticking to his therapy and meds. And helping look for an off-post therapist to work with him a lot more closely. And he's opening up to me and his dad. He's telling us so much. His dad more, which I expected, since his dad's been through deployments and understands. DF's also afraid I'm going to judge him for some things he did over there, which I'm sure all guys are. But I'm glad he's opening up to someone. I'm very proud of him. And I love him.

I asked heaven for someone as wonderful as you,
And every prayer and wish came true.
I dreamed of you...
