Rough Day...
Filled out his PTSD paperwork for his VA appointment today.
We did part of it together, then he went upstairs and I heard him call his VA rep. Then he came downstairs and fell apart. He was shaking and sobbing with his head in my lap. ![]() He got it together after a little while and told me he didn't have to fill out the paperwork, he could just send her the dates and events in a word file via email and she'd do the paperwork for him. ![]() I took him a cup of tea while he was working and asked him how he was doing. I didn't get much of a response, but I wasn't really looking for one, I just wanted him to know I was there and worried. I don't know how to help him through this. I'm worried because I won't be able to be in Washington when he does his doctor appointment. When will this nightmare end?

You know, the more we have to deal with this, the more I learn.
I don't think his PTSD would've even been a problem if his dad hadn't committed suicide. It's really bad when we talk about his dad OR when people ask him about Cuba. He'll answer questions for a little while, then get quiet. Then for the next week he'll have nightmares about Cuba or his Dad or even his Dad in Cuba. It's so ugly and scary. A few weeks ago he described something that happened while he was in Cuba and then he burst into tears because he didn't know if what he did could be misconstrued as a form of "torture." So then he got sick to his stomache because he was afraid he actually hurt a detainee when he was trying to help him. (The guy had something in his eye and DJ didn't have any of those eye-flushing kits, so he had to use a hose to get the stuff out of the guy's eye, but to someone with an agenda, it could have looked like my husband was spraying the guy in the face with a hose.) How do I tell him he did his job the best he could?
