I was put on something called "Progoil" which is a form of progesterone oil that is supposedly better than most forms of progesterone (it's said to be as good as progesterone shots). My doctor had me take it several times a day until I was around 20 weeks, then I weaned myself off. I am not positive, but I think that is the only thing that prevented me from miscarrying Shelby. I had 6 miscarriage for unknown reasons and I miraculously carried her to term with no real problems at all. This doctor is the ONLY doctor that I know of who will prescribe this medication b/c it's new and not very well known about yet.
The only other medication I was on other than that was flinstones vitamins and folic acid, which I'm still taking. My doctor said all women in their child bearing age (who are anticipating children) should be taking daily vitamins and extra folic acid to prevent neural tube defects. Other than that, I wasn't on anything else. No diabetes, thank GOD. It runs rampant in both our families but I lucked out with both pregnancies and didn't have it

i always had to watch my body about being preg. with all 3 kiddos, i knew before i missed my period. my kids are my 6th, 7th and 8th preg. it took DH getting out of the navy and me going to a civilian dr to discover that when i hit 12 or 13 weeks, my body would stop producing progestone (sp). so from as soon as i found out, i took hormone pills till i hit 20 weeks, which is well after the placenta takes over producing the hormone.

I took metformin and clomid to get pregnant. I was also taking prenatals...ANd using progesterone cream...I have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) Which in turn can cause infertility in some women and I am 1 of those women. I also took robitussin during my cycle before ovulation since clomid can "dry" you out down there.
After I finally did get pregnant I continued taking my prenatals and I continued taking the metformin (until 12 weeks pregnant) and I also continued with teh progesterone cream...Since studies have shown that met can help lower the miscarraige rate in women with PCO. And progesterone cream, although low dosage in the cream, can help aid in progesterone levels. After so many years TTC I didn't want to take any chances. Edited to add I did have to have antibiotics during labor for Group B strep Last edited by Kaymara; 12-04-2005 at 03:09 PM. |

I just took prenatals. I did have to take Phenergan for morning sickness with all three of my pregnancies(Had TERRIBLE morning sickness with all 3). We found out the reason I lost Mark-Paul was due to a bacterial infection ,that had gotten in through to the placenta. The Doc . told me that I really won't be monitored too much if we decide to have another baby. They'll just swab, and check what bacteria is there, and put me on Antibiotics.
