Baby, I'm bad news.

PPD Question-may be stupid
I was diagnosed with GAD and depression when I was about 12, which was 11 years ago. I have been on numerous medications, some which worked, and some which did not, but I am currently off all meds. I have learned how to deal with the GAD and the depression without medication or therapy, but I'm afraid of losing control after I give birth.
Is there anything I can do now to be proactive? I know that I cannot prevent PPD, but I'd really like to see if there's anything I can do now to keep it under control in a way. I'm sorry if this doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I can try to be more clear if need be.

lots and lots of support. Ask for it. Tell people you will need it after the baby is born.
Mine was bad. I'm not going to lie. If I had more people around me, though, I feel as if it wouldn't have been as bad. |

I know that I'll have plenty of support, so I'm not worried about that. I'm worried that I'll have this baby in Germany and be totally alone. That scared the bajeezus out of me.

I truthfully don't think all the support in the world can prevent PPD. Just keep an eye out and if you think it may be an issue talk to your health care provider. Your hormones are so whack after having a baby, different people react differently.

I talked to my Dr. about this too because I have been medicated in the past for depression so I know it's a tendency I have. He said that he would probably just immediately prescribe me meds again after the birth just as a precautionary measure. To me I'm completely ok with that idea but I want to breast feed so I have to look more into that because I know you can't breast feed and take some of those meds (maybe all of them IDK that's why I'm looking into it). I would advise just speaking to your Doc about it.

I'm sure the Doc would be fine with that considering your PPD history too. This is our first baby but I've suffered from GAD in the past so it was a relief knowing I could try to kinda beat it to the punch.

I will most definitely voice my concerns with my doctor, but the hard part now is that I don't have just one doc I go see. Since we're in the process of PCSing, I've had one appointment on post, and then I'll have another when I get back to MN. I'll have a chat with him/her once my due date gets closer.
