4 month old
Would yall say that a 4 month old who can't hold her head up at all is not ok? My friend's daughter has almost no control over head. She constantly rests it on her chin or just lays there. I've tried to talk to my friend about it but she is completely unconcerned. I feel like she should be doing exercises or perhaps talking to a specialist. I admit I'm currently waiting on my first child so I don't know a whole lot about development, but am I totally off base here?

Is her head large? My 6 year old could not hold his head up at 4 months but he has a birth defect and a physical disability.
Has her ped not mentioned it?

I cant remember for sure, but I believe they start getting head control within the first few months.. I know by 4 months they should be able to hold their up... (considering many babies crawl between 5-6 months)

She's not a particularly big baby. She's long I guess you would say. Her mom is just really young and inexperienced and doesn't really have anyone to help her so I didn't know if I was being overly concerned or not. Supposedly she took the baby for her shots today and her ped didn't say anything. But as far as I know this is the first time her baby has seen a Dr since she was born in July. Like I said she's kinda clueless.

Yes, there is reason for concern. I would be careful how you tell her, though. Every woman wants to believe that their child is advanced or super healthy or whatever. Some women get highly offended when people try to tell them there may be something wrong.

It's not really my place to say anything but I just didn't know if I was concerned for no reason. She's one of my better friends so I can talk to her pretty easily. I just didn't want to seem like some nosy person who didn't know what I was talking about.
