I had an epidural and it didn't hurt at all. I didn't feel a thing. They numb you before they put it in and I didn't even feel me being numbed.

Sure the visual is bad, but the sweet relief is well worth it. Studies have found an epidural can be a life-saving procedure for husbands who attend their wife's childbirth.

The epidural was definitely no walk in the park, but I'd take the 10 minutes of EEEK! over the actual hard contractions and delivery pains. I wanted to see the needle before they stuck it in my back, but DH wouldn't let me. He held my head so I couldn't look as they were preparing everything. This time, I will be looking! I have a morbid curiosity.
For me, the epidural was kinda painful. It also made my left leg tingle as he was doing it. I'm usually good with those sort of things too. |

Yep.. thats how its done.. I have had 3... I would take the needle (since you can't see it) over the pain anyday ... My 2nd Epi barely worked at all, and it was a miserable delievery... My 3rd I waited as long as I could (till 7cm).. and I almost couldn't get the Epi bc I couldn't sit still through the pain to get it...

When you get the epidural you don't see the needle at all and you don't feel a thing because they numb you. I think it was one of the best things I had done while I was in labor.

Yeah, that's how I was during mine. I don't know how dilated I was though because they couldn't check me. It had been too long since I broke my water so the risk of infection was high. I would venture about 7-8 cm. I didn't tell anyone I was in pain. Then a nurse came in, saw my face, and was like "umm... it's time for the epidural." Shaking, I said "no no, I can wait. I don't want it to wear off." She assured me I was more than ready haha.

I was going to go 'all natural' for my delivery, but after 8 hours of excruciating pain feeling like I was going to have DS through my backside instead of the vajayjay, I had an epidural. I was in so much back and rear pain that I didn't even feel the needle go in. Made sure I didn't look, because I hate needles.
i learned my lesson with DS that pregnancy and childbirth is no walk in the park and will never do it again, but if I had to I would get an epi again with out a blink.
