H1N1 vaccine
Have any of you gotten this? I saw my Dr today and he said I should get it. So I'm scheduled to get it next week. I was just curious if anyone else has gotten it, not trying to cause a debate

I haven't gotten it. I'm a little skeptical still. Plus, it's been years since my last flu shot and I'm not in any of the groups of people at risk, so I'm just opting not to.

I got mine last Friday. I ONLY got it for Grace, If I was not preggo i would not have gotten it as I normally don't get the flu shot. I just could not live with myself if i would not of gotten both shots and then her being born in flu season and getting sick when i could have prevented it kwim.

I BOTH the seasonal flu shot and the H1N1 shot on Friday. I wouldn't have gotten either if I wasn't pregnant, but the health of my child is very important to me. So I just bit the bullet and got the shot. I think it's a good idea for all pregnant women to get it since we are all at risk, and being pregnant makes us even higher risk because there are so many things that can't give us to make us better from the flu because they could harm the baby.

I got mine yesterday because they are in such short supply here you can only get them if you're high risk and I'm delivering in 3 days, so I went ahead and did it.

I didn't get the flu shot b/c I never have. Once I decided to get it b/c of pregnancy the clinic on base was out. After talking to my Dr today it seems like getting the vaccine for H1N1 is the right thing to do for the baby.

I want it, but it's still not available in my area. Only the flu mist is available, which pregnant women cannot take. As soon as the shot is available in my area, I will get it. Hopefully that is within the next week or so, but there is no telling.
I suggest you do your own research if you start to become concerned about the vaccination based on what other people say. A lot of people say "well, it hasn't been out long enough to have adequate testing done on it." Every flu shot every year is released in the same way. The H1N1 vaccine is being developed the same way the season flu vaccine is developed. The shot version of the vaccine has virus in it that has been killed, meaning that it is dead virus. The flu mist contains weakened flu virus in it, meaning that it is a live virus. This is true for both the H1N1 vaccine and the seasonal flu vaccine. |
