Anyone had their membranes stripped?
I've been thinking about it but I'm scared it will hurt really bad. My midwife is NOT gentle when checking for dialation so I bet the stripping would be brutal. The baby is engaged, I'm a little dialated my cervix just isn't thinning at all. Do you have to be to a certain dialation or thinned for them to do it? Does it hurt really bad? i'm so sick of being pregnant but I don't want to be in a lot of pain for something that isnt guaranteed to work..

I know people hate to hear but I will still say it.
Unless you are over-due there is really no need in it. The baby will come when he/she is ready. I know it is tough and feel like you have been pregnant for years but you are at the end now. Just let the baby cook a little bit longer!

I never have had it done, but I had my waters broke (which is in the same area... LOL) with my last one and that alone was terrible!
I would wait it out.. as they said above, I know it feels like its been forever... but it hasn't.. I did two pregnancies back to back... almost 2 yrs of pregnancy ... that was tiring.. LOLIf your already dialating.. then sex if you can.. The chemicals in semen can help you efface... and orgasm can help get natural contractions going.. I am a fan of Evening Primrose Oil... inserted into the "who-ha".. it helps with effacement also, if your body is ready...

I had it done twice. The first time didn't hurt, but caused a lot of bleeding. The second time I had it done, it hurt really badly while she did it, then I was fine. It didn't really speed up the process I don't think.

I had it done and it HURT. I would never have it done again. It didn't do anything except cause painful contractions that made no progress
