How Did You Choose A OB/GYN.
What were the deciding factors that made you choose your OB/GYN!?
I have been searching and searching. The town I live in has some, but that hospital sucks and I refuse to deliver there. The town that I was looking it is the town were I work, DH works, our parents work - but it just seems like I cant find the right OB/GYN. My orginal OB/GYN is in another town. It is the furtherest from where we all work, but the doctors are good and the hospital is great. The only problem is that I owe them money - so I'm hoping they will just let me make payments and see the doctors anyways. I just want to find the right doctor!

I didn't chose one. I go to the OB clinic here on post. I scheduled an appointment with whatever doctor was available. The first OB I saw here had a major stick up her butt so I requested to not see her anymore. The guy I saw next was AWESOME!!!! I wish I could see him every time, but he is always booked solid. I have gotten to see him 3 or 4 times more; but recently I had to start seeing someone else. I just asked them to let me see someone nice. I saw a midwife who was nice, then I saw a nurse practitioner was even nicer. So long as I see that male OB, that midwife, or that nurse practitioner from here on out, I'll be happy. I don't get the privilege of seeing the same doctor every visit. I can make a request, but if they aren't available, I have to see someone else. It sort of sucks, but it was the same way for me at Wilford Hall in San Antonio when I had my son. I'm kinda used to it.
I wish I could have my daughter somewhere else, but the town we are next to sucks more than post does. The next closest hospital is an hour away in Savannah. I'm not doing that again. When I delivered at Wilford Hall, I lived in San Marcos, which is about an hour and fifteen minutes away. It's just too stressful. I don't know if my husband will be here. He may be deployed. I have a fifteen month old. I should just stick to having her on post. I hear horror stories about the hospital on post though. When it gets closer to my due date, I may start asking for y'alls prayers! |

i looked at humana's website of providers that are in the tricare network here. i googled the names of the doctors that i liked to see if anyone had reviewed them or anything. from there, i chose. almost every single one had at least one rating that helped me determine if they were a good gyno or not.

Convenience was a big factor for me. I work so I needed a place that wasn't way the hell across town.
Also...where I wanted to deliver was another factor. Lastly...just get a feel for them. I screwed up BAD with who I picked. I didn't know until the end that the group was an "on call" type. Meaning...I could see this doctor the entire time and he might not deliver my kid because he wasn't on call. I never met the doctor that delivered my son... Get a feel for the doctor when you go in there initially. You'll know whether it's the right or wrong doctor for you. |
