They wanted me to do one for me at 36wks (almost 37wks) because of my blood pressure but I refused it since I was almost 38 weeks anyway and if they felt like it was that much of an emergency they would have taken her anyway, I just did the strict bedrest thing. I didn't see the point in causing more problems just to wait a couple days for results and to be 38 weeks by that point anyway. But I have heard it does hurt a lil.

I had one done at 37 weeks and it came back that the her lungs were not mature at all. The doc said that they were that of a 30 week baby. I had her 1 week later and she was just fine. It didnt hurt at all and I had no complications at all.

If you don't HAVE to have one, don't. My mom had to have one for me and I kicked the needle, got an infection and after I was delivered was given 6 hours to live. Obviously I beat the odds.. But I will NEVER have one done unless it is absolutely medically necessary.
I know that it's not the "norm" and that doesn't happen to everyone... but that's just my experience. |
