It varies. It used to be 2, then 1 then 2. But if you are going to a military Dr then it doesn't matter and you can have as many as they want. I had 2 alone within a week at Naval hospital Bremerton. The "rules" only apply if tricare actually pays a civilian Dr.
Now...Most Dr's do 1 or 2 ultrasounds on the normal. Some practices do an early 1 and a 20 week one and some practices only do a 20 week one. I had so many because of my infertility and previous miscarriage. I would count on only 1 ultrasound. Your 20 week one and if you get one sooner then that'll make it all the better. |

I think so. At the military hospital that I went to with Jaxon, they only did one ultrasound at around 20 weeks unless something was wrong with the baby. Here, even at the civi doctor, they only do one u/s unless they determine something is wrong. If you have a history to be concerned about, if they can't find a heartbeat after 10-12 weeks, if you are having bleeding or something like that, they will do one and pay for it though. I had one done a few days ago because of my history. I'm on progoil and it can make your body hold on to a pregnancy even if it's not viable and with us not hearing the heartbeat the other day, she wanted to make sure that the baby was okay. I just wasn't far enough along to hear the heartbeat. I do think it varies from doctor to doctor but that's been the general rule where I've been seen.

At military hospital's is doesn't matter, I had a few with the boys. I only got one with dd since I had a normal pregnancy and it was blue cross. With my last one since I went home we ended up having to pay for my last ultrasound done at 38 weeks. Not sure if it was because the place I went to wasn't covered, although the hospital was, or because I had already had my main ultrasound at the naval hospital here. HTH

I had 2 with this one before the whole "preeclampsia" scare. I knew exactly when I got pregnant and they still gave me the first trimester and second trimester ultrasounds. Now since the scare I've had 3 already and I'll have another one on Wednesday and then another on Saturday with the amnio.
